About Private members’ Bill

  1. It is a type of legislative proposal. It is introduced by individual members of Parliament (nominated and elected) who are not members of the cabinet.
  2. It is the responsibility of the concerned member to draft it.
  3. A one-month notice is required to introduce it in the House.
  4. It reflects the opposition party’s stand on a public issue.
  5. Allocation of time for introduction and discussion of bills: In the Lok Sabha, the last two and a half hours of the sitting every Friday are allotted for private members’ bills.

The meeting of the Central Advisory Committee for PM-AJAY was concluded.

About PM-AJAY

• Ministry: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

• Type: It is a “Centrally Sponsored Scheme”.

• Launch: It was launched in 2021-22.

The objective is

• To empower the Scheduled Caste community by creating additional employment opportunities To reduce poverty among children;

• To improve socio-economic developmental indicators in SC dominated villages;

• To increase literacy of SCs and encourage enrollment of SC students in schools and higher educational institutions etc.

Components:

• Under this, SC dominated villages are being developed as “Adarsh ​​Gram”.

• Grants-in-aid are being provided to the states / districts for the socio-economic betterment of the Scheduled Castes.

• Educational hostels for SC girls are being constructed / repaired.

The objective is to

  1. Improve the nutritional and health status of children in the age group of 0-6 years.
  2. Reduce the incidence of mortality, morbidity, malnutrition and school dropout.
  3. Enhance the capacity of the mother to meet the general health and nutritional needs of the child through nutrition and health education.
