Recently, some private members’ bills were introduced in the Parliament.
About Private members’ Bill
- It is a type of legislative proposal. It is introduced by individual members of Parliament (nominated and elected) who are not members of the cabinet.
- It is the responsibility of the concerned member to draft it.
- A one-month notice is required to introduce it in the House.
- It reflects the opposition party’s stand on a public issue.
- Allocation of time for introduction and discussion of bills: In the Lok Sabha, the last two and a half hours of the sitting every Friday are allotted for private members’ bills.

Bay of Bengal Initiative on Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC)
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports hosted the first ever BIMSTEC Youth Summit in Gandhinagar (Gujarat).

• Members: Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan.
• Objective: To promote rapid economic growth and social progress and ensure peace and stability in the Bay of Bengal region.

Pradhan Mantri Scheduled Caste Abyudaya Yojana (PM-AJAY)
The meeting of the Central Advisory Committee for PM-AJAY was concluded.
About PM-AJAY
• Ministry: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
• Type: It is a “Centrally Sponsored Scheme”.
• Launch: It was launched in 2021-22.
The objective is
• To empower the Scheduled Caste community by creating additional employment opportunities To reduce poverty among children;
• To improve socio-economic developmental indicators in SC dominated villages;
• To increase literacy of SCs and encourage enrollment of SC students in schools and higher educational institutions etc.
Components:
• Under this, SC dominated villages are being developed as “Adarsh Gram”.
• Grants-in-aid are being provided to the states / districts for the socio-economic betterment of the Scheduled Castes.
• Educational hostels for SC girls are being constructed / repaired.

About Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition 2.0
• Ministry: Ministry of Women and Child Development.
• Vision: It is an integrated nutrition support program. It focuses on addressing problems related to malnutrition among children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
The objective is to
- Improve the nutritional and health status of children in the age group of 0-6 years.
- Reduce the incidence of mortality, morbidity, malnutrition and school dropout.
- Enhance the capacity of the mother to meet the general health and nutritional needs of the child through nutrition and health education.
