BHARATPOL portal created by CBI launched
Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Bharatpol portal developed by CBI on January 7.
• During this event held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, Amit Shah also gave police medals to 35 CBI officers for their service.
• With the help of Bharatpol portal, India's investigative agencies will be able to connect with foreign agencies and Interpol.
• Bharatpol portal is connected to the official website of CBI. Indian investigative agency CBI works as the National Control Bureau for Interpol.
• Police of all states will be able to connect with Interpol on Bharatpol portal. With the help of the portal, notices like Interpol's Red Corner can be issued.

8th edition of Indusfood 2025 to start in Greater Noida
The 8th session of Indusfood 2025 will be held in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, adjacent to Delhi, from 8 to 10 January 2025.
• Union Food Minister Chirag Paswan will inaugurate it. The Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) organizes this exhibition.
• From 9 to 11 January, TPCI will organize two more events named Indusfood Manufacturing and Indusfood Agritech.
• 2,300 people from more than 30 countries will participate in the exhibition at Indusfood 2025.
• More than 7,500 international buyers, 15,000 Indian buyers, presidents of more than 30 international chef organizations and 100 Indian representatives will participate in the event.
• This event helps Indian food companies to reach their products to foreign markets. • Under Indusfood 2025, it will also host the 'Asia President Forum' for the first time in collaboration with the Indian Culinary Association (IFCA).

Union Steel Minister released PLI scheme for steel production
Union Steel and Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy launched the PLI scheme 'PLI Scheme 1.1' for steel.
• Under this scheme, the government gives incentives to companies on production to reduce imports and increase steel production.
• 'PLI Scheme 1.1' is for the financial year 2025-26 to 2029-30.
• Under this scheme, incentives are given on products of 5 categories.
• These categories are - coated steel products, high strength steel, specialty rail, alloy steel products and electrical steel.
• Rs 6,322 crore will be spent under the scheme.

Indonesia became a full member of the BRICS group
Indonesia has become a full member of BRICS, a group of developing countries. BRICS chair country Brazil announced this on Monday, January 6, 2024.
• Now BRICS includes 10 countries - Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, UAE and Indonesia.
• Brazil has taken over the presidency of BRICS on January 1, 2025. It will assume this responsibility till the end of this year.
• Indonesia's candidature to become a member of BRICS got the support of BRICS countries in 2023 itself. It decided to join BRICS after the formation of a new government in 2024.
• The objective of the countries included in BRICS is to promote mutual peace, security, development and cooperation.
