Prateek Hajela Sir

About the Director

Prateek Hajela, IAS, is a native of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Prateek Hajela had his schooling from Campion School, Bhopal. He did his Graduation, B.Tech in Electronics from IIT Delhi. His All India Rank in the IIT JEE Examination of the year 1988 was 155.

Prateek Hajela joined the IAS in 1995, and was allotted Assam Meghalaya Cadre. His All India Rank in the UPSC CSE Examination of the year 1994 was 33. He has rich experience of 28 years in the IAS. He has served as District Collector/ District Magistrate/ Deputy Commissioner for a long period of 8 years including the biggest district of Assam i.e. Nagaon for 4.5 years and the capital district of Assam i.e. Guwahati (Kamrup Metropolitan) for 3 years. He also has the distinction of having served as Mission Director of two Missions, namely, the Sarva Shiksha Abhijan (SSA), and the National Health Mission (NHM). He also worked as the State Coordinator, NRC, Assam. He has also served in the state of Madhya Pradesh as Principal Secretary, Government of Madhya Pradesh in the Department of Social Justice & Disabled Persons Welfare, for around 3 years and also in the Department of AYUSH and as CEO, Atal Bihari Institute of Good Governance and Public Administration (AIGGPA), Bhopal.

He has rich experience of law-and-order maintenance, various sections of BNS (Criminal procedure Code, Indian Penal Code), police investigation, implementation of (i) Public distribution system and (ii) welfare schemes, various facets of law/ rule making, designing of schemes, financial management, IT deployment in Government departments. Assignments in Government Departments like Home, Education, Health, Social Welfare, etc has given him exposure to various aspects of Social Sector Issues, Government Finance and the Indian Economy.

His elder brother Dr Anoop Hajela is a famous doctor in Bhopal running the prestigious “Hajela Hospital”.
